Download your e-Aadhaar card today. Virtual Aadhaar ID generation gets easier

Feeling worried about the safety of your Aadhaar card? Then next time when you apply for a new Sim card or when any service provider asks for your Aadhaar card, then just download a masked e-Aadhaar card from the UIDAI which Unique Identification Authority of India website and hand it over to the service provider. The masked e-Aadhaar will hide your Aadhaar number from any third party to see but will also provide a virtual Aadhaar number for them.

The UIDAI department has been doing a lot to protect your identity and data from the third-party ad this particular way is to safeguard your Aadhaar data. UIDAI is also promoting the use of Aadhaar Virtual ID. They have also added a new way to generate it. The VID generated by the UIDAI department can be used only one time and is mapped with the Aadhaar data of yours. Once you provide the VID number, it can be used on behalf of the original Aadhaar number.

You can visit the UIDAI website and check for the Virtual Aadhaar ID generation section and generate one for you too if you wish too.

How to generate VID:

1.    Visit the UIDAI website and click on download e-Aadhaar option. Here, you will see options to create an e-Aadhaar card. You can either create it using your Aadhaar, VID and also your enrolment ID. This will let you create either a regular Aadhaar card or you can use it to create a masked Aadhaar card as well.

When you don’t want to share your Aadhaar number with any third party, then simply download the masked e-Aadhaar. It will have all the details other than your Aadhaar number. The masked e-Aadhaar will only show the last 4 digits of your Aadhaar number. All you will have to do is enter your PIN code and also your name on the website.

2.    You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number, enter that and then click on the Download Aadhaar option.

3.    When you want to open your e-Aadhaar, just enter the first 4 letters of your name and then the 4 digits of your birth year. That will be your password.

When you feel that your Aadhaar details could be compromised just go and download a masked Aadhaar and present it to the service provider and stay protected.
